Just had an afternoon drink (Saturday) in the deli in Malvern after the Malvern Show and found a sarcastic and rather man with an apron serving us. I accidently spilt a hot chocolate (average quality) and instead of the constructive ‘the customer is our highest priority’ approach to any accident followed by ‘I’ll get you another and don’t worry about it’ – we received a long pause from the aforementioned man in the apron followed by ‘would you like to purchase another one’!

Furthermore on leaving the establishment (far quicker than we would normally if the situation was dealt with better) the man in the apron then sarcastically smiled said ‘well done’- leaving me to imply well done for not knocking another one over!

I’m not saying that the spill was in any way their fault (actually the top heavy mug simply didn’t fit on the very small saucer) but surely it’s polite to make the customer feel good, limited embarrassment and replace the hot drink free of charge. After all replacing the hot drink probably costs the business 40p compared with an unhappy customer who certainly will not be going back there again.

Obviously John is not local to Malvern or else he would know that the food and produce at "The Great Malvern Deli" is of the highest standard and locally sauced. The staff are always friendly and professional and "The Man in the apron" is Raymond - The Great Malvern Deli would not be the shop that it is without him and his personality.

I have enjoyed the food and the service at the deli for a good while now. I am one of those coustomers that never quite know what i want to eat but i find that they always have something diferent to offer. Every day there are 3 to 4 diferent home made soups on offer which i have got to say are good value for money and very tasty and filling as you also get a nice thick slice of bread with it. I have eaten things that i have never eaten before as i am not that good myself in the kitchen. If you are in Malvern and you want good, fresh, local food then pop in and you will not be disapointed. I have also got to say that i find the staff there very helpful and yes i get on with the man in the apron to, Raymond has got a great sence of humour. Just one more thing, A big thank you for putting up with us customers as we can sometimes be a pain.

I am a local resident of Malvern for just over a year now, while i have enjoyed the vast array of differant food shops that Malvern has to offer, i can say without a doubt that The Great Malvern Deli is my favorite place to eat without a shadow of a doubt.
The food is bought from local farmers and is free range, the food is made in front of you in the exact manner that you wish with the freshest and tastiest ingredients. Plus, the deli makes a great effort in adding new things into the menu as often as possible, with intoxicating new dishes. unlike most food shops in which the menu is concrete for years.
i will keep going to the deli for my weekend lunches for as long as i live in malvern, and probably even if i move away! John's ignorant and obnoxious comment does not reflect the delicatessin which i know and love in any way, or the friendly, helpful (and overall deserving of all praise) staff that work their.
thankyou Great Malvern Deli for many fantastic lunches!

i am from Australia. a couple of months ago, i had to travel to england for my son's wedding. my wife, a few friends and i happened to stay in malvern for a couple of day's after the wedding. a truly serendipitous event as it happens, as i would otherwise have never encountered. The food truly is absoloutly delicious. I'm rather embarressed to say that i used the excuse of coming to see my son for a chance of once again sampling the wonder's of this little deli. a truly magnificent food court, and a place that i, and all of my friends will make sure to visit everytime we return to england!

I have lived in Malvern for a few years now and have tried a number of cafe's and watched most of them shut down through lack of use! The Great Malvern Deli is the best by far, with in my opinion very friendly and helpful staff and owners. The soups are amazing, try the caulifower cheese YUMMY!!!

Well, the above anonymous comments are all highly complimentary (and all, rather suspiciously, similarly poorly phrased with bad spelling and grammar :"i am" "differant", "caulifower").
However! This delicatessen is really better than that: the food is largely local, well made, fresh and not excessively costly. The owner did strike me as a bit offhand and cold – perhaps he doesn't like non-locals – but he wasn't rude, per se. I'd certainly go back for more food, especially the panini.

I definitely agree with John's comment and feel that the man in the apron needs customer service training. He may have favourite local customers but I definitely will not be purchasing anything from there again as his manner was offhand and rude.
I was a regular customer in the past and it is sad to see how much the deli has declined since it was run by Helen.

Well the young man that you have all gone on about doesn't work there anymore. There are 5 wonderful, friendly, helpful ladies there now. The food is always prepare freshly, you can even make up your own sandwiches, or order your favourite by phone and a wonderful choice of soups, you can try them if you are not sure. They also have a choice of coffee strengths, they staff are always very helpful and the food always delicious. The homemade tapenade and hummous and their cheeses are my favourites.
