On the first Saturday of every month it's Rode Hall Farmers' Market. It's situated in the grounds of
Rode Hall, a fine house with lovely gardens and is one of the best Farmers' Markets I've been to.

Some of it's outside:

and there's also two big barns full of stalls:

I made the mistake of getting there not particularly early last month and the place was extremely busy, so get there early! A lot of the traders you'll also see at
Cloverbank Farmers' Market which is on the third Saturday of the month. You can buy different sorts of mushrooms:

nice pickles and jams from
Posh Pickles:

fish and shrimps from an excellent trader I met at
Lark Lane Farmers' Market:

and Staffordshire Oatcakes from Kev of
London Road Oatcakes:

I was looking forward to having a chat with Kev, but we hardly got chance as there was a continual demand for his oatcakes! Kev now goes to quite a few farmers markets, including Bakewell and Stafford. There's a lady selling Mediterranean specialities like ajuka, baklava, borek (feta cheese with spinach wrapped in thin pastry leaves and topped with cumin seeds),humus, lentil kofte, rice dolma and stuffed peppers:

There's a stand selling fine deserts like blueberry frangipan, lemon tart, vanilla egg custard tart, brownies and carrot cake:

Pure Muffins sells pear hazelnut and milk chocolate muffins, raspberry and white chocolate muffins, rhubarb orange and cranberry muffins or triple chocolate muffins:

At Easter there were some dancers:

who I have to say reminded me of the awful Black and White minstrels that used to perform in the Winter Gardens in Morecambe when I was a doorman there in 1974!

There was also a stall selling ducks and pigs filled with pansies. I bought one in the hope that my garden would look more like Rode Hall's gardens!
